Pull pages out of a PDF or break it into pieces

A split tool does the opposite of merging: it takes one PDF and gives you just the pages you want, or breaks the whole thing into separate files. You reach for it when only part of a document is relevant — sending page three of a contract instead of all forty, removing a confidential cover sheet before sharing, separating a scanned bundle back into individual documents, or pulling one invoice out of a year's worth. Type the pages you want, or leave the field blank to split every page into its own PDF, all in your browser.

How to split a PDF

  1. Drag a PDF onto the box above, or click it to choose one.
  2. In the Pages field, type the pages and ranges you want — for example 1-3,5.
  3. Leave the field blank if you want every page split into a separate PDF.
  4. Click Split to process the document in your browser.
  5. Download the single extracted PDF, or use Download all to get every page as a ZIP.

Common jobs this tool helps finish

Extract specific pages or split ranges

The tool works two ways. Enter a list of pages and ranges like 1-3,5,8 and you get a single new PDF containing exactly those pages, in that order — ideal when you want one tidy excerpt. A range such as 1-3 means pages one through three; individual numbers separated by commas add single pages to the selection.

Leave the field blank and the tool switches to the other mode: it splits every page of the document into its own separate PDF and bundles them as a ZIP, so a ten-page file becomes ten one-page files. The original is never altered — you are always downloading new files, while the PDF you opened stays exactly as it was.

Is it private?

Yes. The documents you split are often confidential, and the reason you are splitting may be to remove a sensitive page before sharing — so uploading the whole file to a server first would defeat the purpose. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your PDF is read locally, split on your own device, and the results are saved straight back to you. Nothing is uploaded, stored by us, or seen by anyone else.

Frequently asked questions

How do I extract specific pages?

Type page numbers and ranges like 1-3,5,8 and click Split to get a single PDF with just those pages, in that order.

How do I split every page into its own file?

Leave the Pages field blank and click Split. Every page becomes a separate PDF, delivered together as a ZIP.

What does a range like 1-3 mean?

It selects pages one through three inclusive. Combine ranges and single pages with commas, such as 1-3,5.

Does splitting change the original PDF?

No. You always download new files; the PDF you opened is left unchanged on your device.

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Splitting runs 100% in your browser, so your documents never leave your device.
